Statement of the Budget Request - The FY 2008 Budget of $1,976,000 is a decrease of $20,000 below the FY 2007 Continuing Resolution (CR).

Program Description - Payments are made to the State of Hawaii for the medical care and treatment in its hospital and clinic facilities at Kalaupapa, Molokai and the Halemohalu Hospital, Honolulu, Oahu, of persons with Hansen’s Disease (HD). In FY 2006, Federal support provided about 37 percent of the cost of Hansen’s Disease treatment in the State of Hawaii.

Rationale for the Budget Request - The FY 2008 Request of $1,976,000 is $20,000 below the
FY 2007 CR.
