Project Purpose
The network is established to support 12 federally qualified health centers in improving their daily business infrastructure through network systems, collaboration, and sharing. Specific focus is on software development to increase access to healthcare government insurance, group purchasing, business office accounts receivable management system-wide, network deployment of telemedicine and distance learning, human resources management and integration in program support and services, development of new clinical services such as pharmacy and radiology, and deployment of business intelligence software for improved day to day management, budgeting, and controlling at the cost center level.
Highlights of Accomplishments
Deployment of Medicaid insurance eligibility software providing screening for over 50,000 members over a 5 year period; accounts receivable management support to 10 of the 12 CHCs, improving their billing and collection processes and lowering their A/R significantly; group purchasing support with savings exceeding $800,000 during the past 24 months; developmental support to individual CHCs adding pharmacy services; development of telemedicine and distance learning for all 12 members (in progress); implementation of business intelligence software in two of the centers with plans to deploy to all 12; ongoing human resources management network services in support of the 12 CHCs.
Outcome Measures/Expectations
Increased eligibility for Medicaid insurance; reduced capital acquisition cost for each participant; improved billing practices, collections and reduced A/R for all participating members; increased access to pharmacy services and new development of pharmacy sites; improved and provided consistent human resources advice and guidance; business intelligence software for cost center management and reporting; facilitated enhanced clinical collaborations through annual medical directors conferences.

Equipment/Vendors
Six of the 12 centers utilize Centricity for their practice management systems and six utilize NextGen. Three centers are actively installing and enhancing electronic medical records. |
