How do we evaluate our implementation?

An evaluation of the system upon implementation reveals how well a health IT project has met the initial goals and objectives of the health center. System evaluations provide an avenue for key personnel involved with the health IT implementation to improve on the lessons learned during the project.  In addition, evaluations help justify investments in health IT projects by demonstrating positive clinical, administrative, and operational outcomes.

• AHRQ National Resource Center Evaluation Toolbox (PDF - 345 KB) - Developed for the AHRQ National Resource Center (NRC), "this toolkit provides guidance on how to evaluate health IT. Example measures relevant to quality, safety and efficiency are provided along with suggested data sources and the relative costs to collect the measures.
