What billing capabilities will I need to implement?

There are no requirements for electronic billing in Stage 1.  The objective involving electronic eligibility checking and submission of claims that was originally proposed was not included in the Final Rule.  Program officials have stated their intention to include administrative transaction requirements (i.e., electronic claims and eligibility checking) as a Stage 2 objective.
