A comprehensive training program is the cornerstone of most successful health IT implementations. One of the largest barriers to health IT adoption is the lack of training and support provided to users. As with any technology implementation, careful consideration should be given to basic IT skills as this will guide the training program that needs to be developed. It is also critical to view training as an on-going activity; many users will need continuous support to achieve meaningful use of the system.
