Implementing Quality Metrics

During system implementation, organizations may refine the initial workflow analysis. With the aid of the vendor, they may also start mapping out the proposed new workflow.  In addition to the workflow analysis, testing of reporting capabilities is completed during this phase.

The following section covers a broad spectrum of activities related to implementation of quality metrics, including how to assess system capabilities and functionalities for quality metrics reporting, key workflow considerations, and how to track, analyze and interpret data.

I have selected a measure. How do I go about implementing it?

What are some of the workflow considerations when implementing quality metrics?

How do I assess whether the EHR/Registry will be able to report out on the specific metrics that I am implementing?

How do I track, analyze and interpret my data?

How do I test that the system is able to generate the reports that I need?

Developed by the Health Resources and Services Administration as a resource for health centers and other safety net and ambulatory care providers who are seeking to implement health IT.
