What reporting options do I have?
Providers can utilize electronic health records (EHRs) or computerized disease registries to quickly and easily extract data for reporting purposes. Practice management systems are also able to generate quality reports. Many clinics utilize Crystal Reports
, a plug in application that allows flexibility to customize the report portal. Not all FQHCs, however, have the infrastructure to utilize Crystal Reports or interfaces. ONC is currently developing popHealth
, a prototype tool that integrates with EHRs to extract data, generate quality reports, and streamline reporting. Web-based
applications built off of software such as Crystal Reports are also becoming more common.
Many State and Federally funded reporting programs, such as the Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI), have started suggesting the use of EHRs and registries to generate reports, and vendors are creating new tools specifically designed for these programs
. Additionally, many networks have their own systems and tools for reporting across sites. Simple databases such as Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, SPSS and SAS can also be used to aggregate data and generate some simple reports.
