What should I accomplish in a pilot prior to going live?
A pilot may serve as a test site during a phased go-live period. While implementing at a pilot, a health center can assess in a smaller, more defined setting whether the system is working as expected and whether additional refinements are needed to the new health IT system. Health IT implementation at pilot sites are normally conducted during a well defined period of time so that a timely assessment can be made to ensure that the new system adequately supports various clinical processes, the health IT application is usable, the staff is adeptly trained, and policies and procedures have been developed to support the health IT system.
