How do we establish a contract with a vendor?

Entering vendor negotiations is a challenge for even the most experienced health delivery organizations. For health centers and other safety net providers with fewer resources, less experience, and without a professional team of legal and technical advisors, the challenges associated with vendor negotiations may seem insurmountable.

However, once a vendor is chosen, developing a contract that outlines institutional expectations is of utmost importance. A contract defines the parameters of the relationship between the health center and their vendor. No software installation is without problems; a good contract helps to mitigate the risk for health centers. The resource below covers the fundamentals of contract negotiations.
