Alternative Methods Demonstration Projects (AMDP) allow 340B covered entities to operate projects and programs outside 340B Drug Pricing Program guidelines when traditional models do not meet covered entity needs. AMDPs may include the development of a network of 340B covered entities. It is not necessary to propose an AMDP if a covered entity plans to supplement services with a contract pharmacy arrangement or multiple contract pharmacy arrangements. For more information about contract pharmacy options, see the contract pharmacy services page.
Approved, time-limited AMDPs are carefully evaluated based on benefits provided and compliance with 340B Program requirements.
Covered entities must submit their Alternative Methods Demonstration Project proposal to the HRSA Office of Pharmacy Affairs for approval prior to implementation. HRSA does not provide funding to support AMDPs. Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis; there is no deadline for submission.
