Session #2:  "How to leverage resources to design a successful health center QI program”

Seiji Hayashi, the Bureau of Primary Health Care’s Chief Medical Officer, will outline BPHC’s strategy to guide and support health center QI planning.  Ed Zuroweste and Candace Kugel, clinical consultants with years of health center experience, will provide strategies for the teambuilding, goal-setting, and gap analysis necessary to design your QI plan.  They will advise health centers on how to leverage the available resources to create a successful QI infrastructure at your health center.

Session #3: “Tips for Implementing Your QI Plan”

Jan Wilkerson of Georgia PCA will provide tips on how to implement your QI plan, including how to avoid common pitfalls and how to link with other quality-related efforts. She focuses on practical advice from years of providing technical assistance and training on QI plans. Matt Burke, Senior Clinical Advisor in the Office of Quality and Data in the Bureau of Primary Health Care at HRSA will set the stage for the conference call, which will cover:

  • How to choose specific strategies for improvement
  • How to evaluate whether the improvement intervention is effective
  • Tips on making quality a focus organization-wide and spreading the word about QI
