Description of Figure 1: Determinants of Health

The chart illustrates the relationship of personal health and interacting variables. The individual's personal health, effected by behavior and biology, is in the center of the chart. Social and physical environments are interacting variables with personal health. Policies and interventions interact with the social and physical environments which in turn impact access to quality health care. Access to quality health care interacts with the social and physical environments which in turn impact policies and interventions.
