Who We Are

The Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) administers grant programs designed to build health care capacity at both the local and state levels. We also coordinate activities related to rural health care within the Department of Health and Human Services and have the department-wide responsibility for analyzing the possible effects of policy on residents of rural communities.

Our grants:

  • Strengthen health networks.
  • Enhance health care delivery in rural communities.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to rural hospitals.
  • Address barriers to treatment for substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD).
