Death
Benefits for Child Survivors
The calculator is not designed
to determine Program eligibility. It is for benefits
payment estimates only. The Department of Health
and Human Services does not warrant or assume any
legal liability or responsibility for your calculated
estimate. Please
enter only numbers in the input fields. To get valid
answers, you must fill in all of the appropriate fields.
After changing a response, you must resubmit that
information by pressing the appropriate submit or
calculate button.
Child is defined as a natural or adopted child
who is 18 or younger, 19-23 and a full-time student,
or a child of any age who is legally incompetent.
Legal guardians of children under 18 can chose
between one of two methods of calculations (Standard
Calculation or Alternative Calculation) for
death benefits, both of which will be displayed
for comparison. The payment is made to the legal
guardian.
