Project
Purpose:
- Improve
access to clinical healthcare services for patients
of all ages in rural Utah.

Reduce isolation of practitioners in rural Utah.

Foster delivery of comprehensive, coordinated health
care to rural residents served by the Utah Telehealth
Network.
Sites are connected via T1 lines to deliver telehealth
services such as dermatology/skin cancer screening;
mental health; developmental disabilities; burn
follow-up; acute stroke intervention; radiology;
pharmacy, continuing education & training.

Service Area: Eight counties – Beaver, Duchesne,
Grand, Juab, San Juan, Sanpete, Sevier, Uintah - serving
8 Medical, 8 Dental, and 8 Mental Health HPSAs.
Services Provided: Dermatology/skin cancer screening;
psychiatry (medication management); developmental
disabilities; pediatric orthopedics; case management;
cardiology; infectious disease; orthopedics; acute
stroke intervention; burn; radiology; pharmacy; continuing
education; grand rounds;
diabetes brown bag lectures; nursing oncology doctoral
program courses. UTN has been operational since 1996.
Equipment: Accord MGC100 bridge,
Polycom Viewstation videoconferencing units, Polycom
Via Video desktop videoconferencing units, VTel videoconferencing
units, Madge multiplexers, Pyxis pharmacy dispensing
units, Cisco routers, HP Procurve switches, Netscreen
firewalls.
Transmission: Dedicated T1 lines,
DS3, T1 frame relay, ISDN PRI, DSL, Internet.
