Network Partners: Allen Memorial Hospital, Moab; Beaver Valley Hospital, Beaver; Central Valley Medical Center, Nephi; Gunnison Valley Hospital, Gunnison; Uintah Basin Medical Center, Roosevelt; Central Utah Public Health Department, Richfield; TriCounty Health Department, Vernal; Montezuma Creek Community Health Center, Montezuma Creek; Monument Valley Health
Center, Monument Valley.

Project Purpose:

  • Improve access to clinical healthcare services for patients of all ages in rural Utah.
  • Reduce isolation of practitioners in rural Utah.
  • Foster delivery of comprehensive, coordinated health care to rural residents served by the Utah Telehealth Network.
    Sites are connected via T1 lines to deliver telehealth services such as dermatology/skin cancer screening; mental health; developmental disabilities; burn follow-up; acute stroke intervention; radiology; pharmacy, continuing education & training.

Outcomes Expected: Quantify Patient Usage of Services Provided - Performance data reporting tool Quantify all uses of UTN - UTN Utilization Summary

Service Area: Eight counties – Beaver, Duchesne, Grand, Juab, San Juan, Sanpete, Sevier, Uintah - serving 8 Medical, 8 Dental, and 8 Mental Health HPSAs.

Services Provided: Dermatology/skin cancer screening; psychiatry (medication management); developmental disabilities; pediatric orthopedics; case management; cardiology; infectious disease; orthopedics; acute stroke intervention; burn; radiology; pharmacy; continuing education; grand rounds;
diabetes brown bag lectures; nursing oncology doctoral program courses. UTN has been operational since 1996.

Equipment: Accord MGC100 bridge, Polycom Viewstation videoconferencing units, Polycom Via Video desktop videoconferencing units, VTel videoconferencing units, Madge multiplexers, Pyxis pharmacy dispensing units, Cisco routers, HP Procurve switches, Netscreen firewalls.

Transmission: Dedicated T1 lines, DS3, T1 frame relay, ISDN PRI, DSL, Internet.
