The following recent events were HRSA-sponsored:

Diversity Strategic Planning Regional Meetings, January 11 – February 25

HRSA's Bureau of Health Professions will sponsor the first in a series of regional meetings for HRSA diversity grant stakeholders to develop a strategic plan to bolster the health workforce. The initial meeting will be held January 11-12 in New York City. Subsequent meetings will take place January 28-29 in Atlanta, February 9-10 in Chicago, and February 24-25 in San Francisco. HRSA diversity programs support health professions training programs, students and faculty to increase the number of individuals from minority and disadvantaged backgrounds in the health workforce. Programs include Centers of Excellence, Area Health Education and Geriatric Education Centers, the Health Careers Opportunity Program, Minority Faculty Fellowship Program, the Nursing Workforce Diversity Program, Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry, and Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students.

National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Loan Repayor Orientation Conference - Building Healthier Communities, February 4-6

HRSA will hold this orientation in San Antonio, Texas, for new NHSC Loan Repayors to learn about what it takes to successfully complete NHSC service.

Technical Assistance Meeting of Rural Health Research Centers, February 4-5

HRSA's Office of Rural Health Policy will hold this meeting in Washington, D.C., to provide technical assistance to Rural Health Research Center Program grantees. The agenda will include developing proposals for each center's FY 2011 research agenda. CMS will discuss demonstration projects of rural health care providers; NIH will talk about its initiatives for rural health disparities; and the Department of Agriculture will look at retirement migration to rural areas.

National Advisory Council on Migrant Health, February 10-11

The National Advisory Committee on Migrant Health, which receives HRSA staff support, will hold a meeting in Seattle, Wash., to develop recommendations for the HHS Secretary on health issues faced by migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their families. This meeting is open to the public.

Annual Western Migrant Stream Forum, February 12-14

HRSA will sponsor its Annual Western Migrant Stream Forum in Seattle, Wash., to focus on training and technical assistance for Migrant Health Programs.

National Advisory Committee on Rural Health and Human Services, February 17-19

This advisory committee, which receives staff support from HRSA's Office of Rural Health Policy, will meet in Washington, D.C. National health and human services experts will speak on key rural issues to help the committee prepare its Annual Report to the Secretary.

Western Region Training on Recruiting and Retaining Women into Care, February 23-26

HRSA's HIV/AIDS Bureau will sponsor the Consumer-Provider Partnership for Care: Recruitment and Retention of HIV-Infected Women into Services regional trainings in Los Angeles. The training and technical assistance targets Part D grantees to help them develop partnerships between their staff and HIV-infected women patients to improve outreach, and recruitment and retention of other HIV-infected women who are not in care or are new to care. Part A, B and C-grantees may also participate.

State Primary Care Office Performance Measures Workgroup, February 24-25

HRSA's Bureau of Health Professions' Office of Shortage Designation will sponsor a meeting of the Primary Care Office (PCO) Performance Measures Workgroup in Bethesda, Md. Participants from 25 PCOs will finalize a set of Core Performance Measures for evaluating all 53 State PCOs.
