Photo of Leslie Atkinson, Director, Office of Legislation at HRSALeslie Atkinson has served as the Director of HRSA’s Office of Legislation since 2010.  She serves as the agency’s principal liaison with individual Members of Congress, their staff and congressional committees.  She also is the agency’s congressional and legislative liaison with the Department, specifically the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Legislation.  Prior to joining HRSA, Ms. Atkinson held a variety of leadership roles, including:  Vice President for Federal Government Affairs at United Health Group; Program Officer with the National Institutes of Health; and Director of Government Affairs for the United Negro College Fund.  She also served for nearly 10 years on the staff of the late Congressman Louis Stokes, a founding Member of the Congressional Black Caucus, where her final role was as Chief of Staff.  She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Sociology from Duke University and has pursued graduate studies at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
