Opioid Abuse: Fighting the Epidemic

This year, HRSA will make $100 million in new funding available to approximately 300 Community Health Centers to expand services for those with substance use disorders, including MAT for opioid use disorder. Lack of access to such treatment is a growing problem nationwide. HRSA anticipates this infusion of funds will offer many people in need access to quality services.

HRSA has also invested $1.8 million to support rural communities in reducing morbidity and mortality related to opioid overdoses. The Rural Opioid Overdose Reversal Grant Program supports the purchase and placement of naloxone and training for its use by licensed healthcare professionals and emergency responders in rural areas.

HRSA will continue to develop and support opportunities to address this critical issue affecting communities across the country.
