Today, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia M. Burwell announced more than $87 million in funding for 1,310 health centers in every U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Pacific Basin. 

““Health centers across the country are instrumental in providing high-quality, comprehensive primary health care to millions of people,” said Secretary Burwell. “This investment will help unlock health care data and put it to work, improving health outcomes and building a better health care system for the American people.”

September 8, 2016 - HHS announced a $350,000 supplement to a one-year cooperative agreement with the American Academy of Pediatrics to help expand capacity for caring for children who are or may be impacted by the Zika virus.  

“This funding is an opportunity to enhance our existing work implementing the medical home model for children, particularly children with special health care needs, to help address emerging health concerns related to the Zika virus,” said Jim Macrae, HRSA Acting Administrator.

Join us at HHS Headquarters for the Bridging the Word Gap Challenge Demo Day September 22, 9am - 4pm EDT.

At Demo Day, the Phase 1 winners will pitch their intervention and compete for a chance to win up to $25,000 and advance to the 3rd and final phase of the competition, for a grand prize of $100,000.

Demo Day marks the end of Phase 2 of the Bridging the Word Gap Challenge, a HRSA Maternal and Child Health Bureau challenge competition with the goal of spurring innovative, technology-based solutions that promote early language development among children from low-income families.
