What is the program?

This announcement details the fiscal year (FY) 2017 Access Increases in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (AIMS) supplemental funding opportunity for existing Health Center Program award recipients (hereafter referred to as health centers). The purpose of AIMS funding is to expand access to mental health services, and substance abuse services focusing on the treatment, prevention, and awareness of opioid abuse.  Health centers will enhance these services by increasing personnel.  They will also leverage health information technology (IT) and provide training to support the expansion of mental health services, and substance abuse services focusing on the treatment, prevention, and awareness of opioid abuse, and their integration into primary care.  The Health Center Program funding opportunity is authorized by Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 254b, as amended). See Eligibility section for additional details.  For the purposes of this funding opportunity announcement, the term “health center” means organizations funded under Section 330(e), (g), (h), and/or (i) of the Public Health Service Act, as amended (Health Center Program award recipients).
