What is National Rural Health Day?
In 2010, the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) created National Rural Health Day (NRHD) as a way to applaud the ongoing efforts, contributions, and collaborations occurring in rural communities to address the unique challenges in accessing and delivering health care services. In the past eight years, the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) has planned, hosted, and participated in this annual event.

Five Ways Pharmacists can be Antibiotics Aware
This educational activity from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was designed to review updated information on common antibiotic use problems encountered by general clinical pharmacists. Case-based scenarios demonstrated how to identify and prioritize antibiotic-related problems and explained examples of employing effective stewardship strategies in the acute care setting. Presenters used a variety of active techniques to communicate information and facilitate discussion of the clinical scenarios.

Policy and the Power of Rural 
This conversation focused on the current and future work of rural health policy, how rural citizens can communicate with policymakers and their communities to make an impact on rural health, and the impact of a changing Congress.
Access to Healthcare in Rural Communities Twitter Chat 
The Rural Health Information Hub (RHI Hub) and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH) co-hosted a twitter chat to discuss access to healthcare in rural areas and the impact of a lack of access for rural people. They discussed specific barriers to access, solutions to those barriers, and celebrated rural communities that have tackled this problem in meaningful ways. They used the hashtag #RuralHealthChat to tweet with experts from around the country.
CMS Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) Efforts in Rural Health
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services hosted a webinar to highlight examples of Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) projects that address access to care and harm reduction in critical access and rural hospitals.
Telehealth Twitter Chat
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) hosted a Rural Health Day Twitter chat on the role of Telehealth. Throughout the chat, we discuss how the use of telehealth can help health care and accessibility in rural areas across the nation. Participants joined us by using the hashtag #TalkTelehealth !

During this conversation participants learned how small rural networks are collaborating and innovating with their communities to address the opioid crisis in rural New York.

Rural Virtual Job Fair
HRSA's Bureau of Health Workforce hosted a Rural Focused Virtual Job Fair, a free, interactive event held online to allow primary care providers a chance to talk about their NHSC- or NURSE Corps-approved site. Recruiters discussed their organization’s benefits, their clinical environments (including approaches to integrated care), the populations they serve, and the rewards of providing care in their rural communities.
