HRSA created the Tribal Advisory Council (TAC) in 2021 as a forum for elected Tribal officials and HRSA staff to exchange views, information, and advice about:
- Emerging public health issues in Indian Country
- Urgent public health resources and service needs
- Collaborative approaches to address the issues and needs of American Indians and Alaska Natives
The TAC will support, and not take the place of, any other government-to-government consultation activities that we do.

HRSA’s TAC is currently accepting TAC delegate and alternate nominations for the following areas.
- Alaska

Nomination process
The person submitting the nomination is responsible for identifying nominees for both the delegate and alternate positions. Both nominees should be elected officers of a Tribal government. In addition, they must be qualified to represent the views of the federally recognized Tribes in the Area from which they are being nominated.
Only TAC delegate nominations accompanied by an alternate delegate nomination will be considered. The alternate TAC nominee does not need to be from the same Tribe as the nominated delegate; however, the alternate nominee must represent a federally recognized Tribe and be qualified to represent the same Area as the TAC delegate nominee.
Please use the template nomination letter (PDF - 39 KB) for all nominations. The nomination letter must be submitted on official letterhead.
Nominations are considered for selection in the priority order listed below:
- Tribal president/chairperson/governor
- Tribal vice president/vice chairperson/lieutenant governor
- Elected or appointed Tribal official
Email nomination letters to TribalAffairs@hrsa.gov by September 19, 2025.
Charter
HRSA established the HRSA TAC as one method of enhancing communications with Tribal Nations. The HRSA TAC Charter complies with an exemption within the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act (UMRA) (P.L. 104-4)1 to the Federal Advisory Committee Act that promotes free communication between the federal government and Tribal governments.
