Opportunities at HRSA for Early-Career Professionals

In 2024 HRSA is continuing to recruit for multiple positions within the HRSA Scholars Program, the HRSA Health Equity Fellowship Program, and Recent Graduate opportunities within HRSA bureaus and offices. HRSA administers and manages both the HRSA Scholars Program and the HRSA Health Equity Fellowship Program as a cohort. There are a limited number of slots within each of these programs, but HRSA may also appoint applicants to Recent Graduate positions throughout the organization.

All three opportunities are one-year developmental programs for early-career professionals. All opportunities are located in Rockville, MD and will have the opportunity for telework, but not remote work. Participants will grow, train, and prepare for a potential career in the federal government. All program participants will receive 40 hours of formal training, an individual development plan, and a mentor. Upon successful completion of the Program requirements and acceptable performance evaluations, HRSA may convert participants of any Recent Graduate program to permanent positions and promote them to the next appropriate grade level.

The HRSA Scholars Program enhances HRSA's ability to recruit, hire, develop, and retain high-quality individuals for entry-level professional positions. The cornerstone of the Scholars Program is a structured, individualized, 12-month development program during which participants rotate through HRSA's bureaus and offices. HRSA Scholars will attend trainings as a group and will focus on specific public health programs. HRSA Health Equity Fellows also complete their 12-month program together as a cohort and complete contribute towards a health equity project or program with a HRSA bureau or office. The Fellows will follow a structured training curriculum, and will work alongside HRSA leaders to support projects that address health disparities and achieve healthy outcomes across the country.

HRSA will post a Recent Graduate job announcement on, Tuesday, May 28 - Tuesday, June 4, 2024 to recruit for the next cohort of HRSA Scholars and HRSA Health Equity Fellows. The HRSA Office of Human Resources will also host a virtual information session for interested candidates on Wednesday, May 29, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM. You may join the info session. If you plan to attend the event and require a reasonable accommodation, you may reach out to an Accommodation Specialist. If you have questions, please email
