Memorial Hermann Hospital, University of Texas at Houston Reinstated as a Member in Good Standing Following Approval of OPTN Executive Committee

On March 13, 2026, the OPTN Executive Committee approved the Membership and Professional Standards Committee’s (MPSC’s) recommendation to release Memorial Hermann Hospital, University of Texas at Houston (“Memorial Hermann”) from Member Not in Good Standing status. As a result, Memorial Hermann is reinstated as a Member in Good Standing effective immediately and regains full membership privileges in the OPTN. Memorial Hermann is a transplant hospital based in Houston, TX.

Summary of Events

In February 2025, the OPTN Board of Directors approved the MPSC’s recommendation to designate Memorial Hermann as a Member Not in Good Standing

Appendix L of the OPTN Management and Membership Policies (PDF - 2 MB) requires unannounced on-site review for monitoring of Members Not in Good Standing. The MPSC conducted an on-site review on December 9-10, 2025. 

Following its review, the MPSC recommended the OPTN Executive Committee accept their site visit report, release Memorial Hermann from Member Not in Good Standing status and continue monitoring of the program. The OPTN Executive Committee (Policy F, Appendix L: L.12.d.3 of the OPTN Management and Membership Policies (PDF - 2 MB)) approved the MPSC’s recommendation on March 13, 2026.
