The Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA), Federal Office of Rural Health Policy has released a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) announcement for tribal organizations.

You can review the funding opportunity at:
https://www.grants.gov/web/grants/view-opportunity.html?oppId=326385

Through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, HRSA received $15M to allocate to tribes, tribal organizations, urban Indian health organizations, and health service providers to tribes. The funding will provide support for the Tribes to prevent, prepare, and respond to COVID-19 in rural communities.

For this NOFO, the System for Award Management (SAM) registration required will be relaxed for applicants at the time of submission in Grants.gov.  Current registrants in SAM, with active registrations expiring before May 16, 2020, will be provided a one-time extension of 60 days. New applicants are able to submit an application without a valid SAM registration.

Applicants can reach out to RuralCOVIDNOFO@hrsa.gov with any questions or concerns regarding their submission.

HRSA will hold a technical assistance webinar on April 24th from 4:00-5:30pm EDT to outline how tribes can request their specific activities that may include, but is not limited to: purchase of test kits, PPE, supporting the workforce and telehealth related activities. The webinar information can be found in the funding opportunity announcement (page ii). The due date for application submission is May 6th, 2020.
