Dr. John Snyder is Acting Associate Administrator of the Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW) at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). In this role, he guides BHW in its effort to fulfill its mission to improve the health of people by strengthening the health workforce and connecting skilled health care providers to medically vulnerable communities.
Dr. Snyder also serves as Acting Director of the Office of Planning, Analysis and Evaluation and the Chief Data Officer at HRSA, providing agency-wide leadership for performance management, strategic planning, data governance, and innovation activities to strengthen HRSA programs and operations.
Before joining HRSA, Dr. Snyder previously served as the Assistant Program Director of the Osler Internal Medical Residency Program at Johns Hopkins Hospital and as the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director and Vice Chair of Medicine at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine affiliate hospital, New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Snyder is the primary author of two books and numerous journal articles, and he maintains a part-time primary care clinical practice outside of HRSA. He earned his B.S., M.S., and M.D. degrees from the University of Massachusetts, an M.P.H. degree from UNC Chapel Hill, and completed his Internal Medicine residency training and served as Chief Medical Resident at Brown University.
