September 24, 2025: Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee Meeting
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels traveled to Aquinnah, MA to engage with Tribal leaders during the Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee Meeting, underscoring HRSA’s commitment to partnering with Tribes to address health challenges in Indian Country. The gathering brought together Tribal delegates and HHS leadership to strengthen government-to-government collaboration on health priorities. During the meeting, Administrator Engels highlighted HRSA investments that strengthen Tribal health systems and expand access to care. He also shared updates on HRSA resources available to tribes, including the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline and Telehealth resources to expand access to digital care.
September 17, 2025: Health Connect South
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels addressed over 600 attendees during a panel discussion at Health Connect South’s Annual Gathering in Atlanta, GA. Administrator Engels, alongside HHS leaders, highlighted how federally qualified health centers serve as a vital access point to care and discussed the impact of federal partnerships in advancing the Make America Healthy Again initiative.
September 10, 2025: National Academy for State Health Policy Annual State Health Policy Conference
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels joined a fireside chat at the National Academy for State Health Policy 38th Annual Conference in San Diego, CA. Administrator Engels highlighted HRSA priorities around primary care, maternal health, and strengthening the health workforce. September 9, 2025: Annual National Tribal Health Conference
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels addressed more than 1,000 attendees at the National Indian Health Board’s Annual National Tribal Health Conference in Chandler, AZ, sharing key HRSA and Make America Healthy Again priorities. Administrator Engels underscored HRSA’s commitment to the health and well-being of Tribal nations, highlighting efforts to prevent chronic disease, strengthen the health workforce, and advance innovative health care solutions.
August 25, 2025: HRSA Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program Roundtable
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels joined the Colorado Department of Early Childhood and local partners for a roundtable discussion in Denver about HRSA’s Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program. Home visitors, families, and program leaders shared how home visiting services are helping parents gain confidence, strengthen family well-being, and give children the strongest possible start.

August 19, 2025: National Association of Community Health Centers Community Health Conference & Expo
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels and HRSA senior leaders spoke at the National Association of Community Health Centers’ CHI Community Health Conference and Expo in Chicago, IL. He celebrated major milestones of the Health Center Program, including marking 60 years of community health centers delivering high-quality primary care across the country. He also announced that nearly 1,000 HRSA-funded health centers earned Community Health Quality Recognition badges for their clinical excellence in 2024.

May 1, 2025: National Council on Aging – 8th Annual Older Adult Mental Health Awareness Day Symposium
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels provided welcome remarks and shared how HRSA programs provide mental health support for older adults at the 8th Annual Older Adult Mental Health Awareness Day Symposium hosted by the National Council on Aging. The virtual symposium brought together aging services professionals, advocates, and partners to raise awareness of mental health issues faced by older adults and available resources for practitioners working within the community.
April 24, 2025: Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee Meeting
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels participated in the Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee meeting in Washington, D.C. During the meeting, Administrator Engels participated in a panel discussion with HHS principals from across the Department to share about HRSA programs and the Secretary’s Make America Health Again agenda. He also engaged with Tribal leaders to discuss issues facing Tribes and how to collaboratively address health care challenges in Indian Country.
April 22 – 23, 2025: HHS Annual Tribal Budget Consultation
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels met with Tribal leaders and participated in an HHS Leadership Roundtable during the HHS Annual Tribal Budget Consultation held in Washington, D.C. This event provided an opportunity to discuss budget priorities with Tribal leaders, share HRSA programs, and emphasize HRSA’s commitment to collaborating with Tribes to improve access to health services in Indian Country.
March 4, 2025: Rural Communities Opioid Response Program Grantee Meeting
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels spoke at a convening in Washington, D.C. that included over 650 participants of HRSA’s Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP). The three-day event was an opportunity for RCORP grantees to engage, collaborate, and share lessons learned with peers, federal officials, and partners to expand treatment, prevention and recovery efforts for rural Americans affected by opioid and substance use disorders, including from fentanyl.
February 25 – 27, 2025: Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee Meeting
HRSA Administrator Tom Engels participated in the February 25-27 Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee meeting in Washington, D.C. During this first meeting between Tribal delegates and HHS principals from the new Administration, Administrator Engels engaged with Tribal leaders to listen to their priorities and recommendations. He also shared updates about HRSA programs, including the National Maternal Mental Health Hotline and the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program. He also invited Tribal leaders to connect with regional staff in HRSA’s Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs who offer valuable technical assistance and support to Tribes.
