The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) today announced nearly $140 million in new funding available to improve health in rural communities, underscoring the agency's commitment to improving healthcare access and outcomes.
HRSA, an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is home to the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, which has coordinated rural health activities across HHS and provided grant funding to state and local organizations to improve health care in rural communities for nearly 40 years.
“Healthy rural communities are essential to achieving President Trump’s directive to Make America Healthy Again,” said HRSA Administrator Tom Engels. “These funding opportunities support state and local organizations that understand their communities’ unique needs and are best positioned to deliver solutions. By strengthening rural health care systems, expanding access to quality care, investing in telehealth innovation, and supporting the rural health workforce, HRSA is helping ensure that people living in rural America have the opportunity to lead healthier lives and that their communities remain strong for generations to come.”
These announcements, which build on President Trump’s historic investments in rural health and advance the Great American Recovery Initiative, were announced at Madison County Memorial Hospital, a designated Critical Access Hospital in Winterset, Iowa.
