Who can apply: Eligible applicants include domestic public or private, non-profit or for-profit entities including domestic faith-based and community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations. The applicant organization may be located in a rural or urban area and must have demonstrated experience serving, or capacity to serve, populations in rural areas within the eight Mississippi Delta Region States (Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee). The applicant organization may not previously have received an award under 42 U.S.C. 254c(f) for the same or a similar project unless the entity is proposing to expand the scope of the project or the area that will be served through the project. Eligible applicants include domestic public or private, non-profit or for-profit entities including domestic faith-based and community-based organizations, tribes and tribal organizations. Who can apply: Eligible applicants must be a rural domestic public or nonprofit private health care provider or provider of health care services, such as a critical access hospital, a rural health clinic; or be another rural provider or network of small rural providers identified by the Secretary as a key source of local or regional care; and not previously have received an award under this subsection for the same or similar project. The applicant organization must be located in a rural area.

You can view the FRN at https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/04/29/2026-08300/rural-hospital-provider-assistance-program.You can apply if you: 1) have no more than 50 acute care inpatient beds, 2) have an established wage index value of less than 0.90 as determined by the Secretary of HHS under section 1886(d)(3)(E) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395ww(d)(3)(E)), and 3) are located in a rural area as defined by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy.
