The MIECHV Program supports pregnant women and parents with young children who live in communities that face greater risk and barriers to achieve positive maternal and child health outcomes. Building upon decades of gold-standard scientific research, the MIECHV Program provides voluntary, coordinated and comprehensive, high-quality early childhood home visiting services to eligible families. Home visits by a nurse, social worker, or other trained professional during pregnancy, and in the first years of life can improve the lives of children and families by: helping to prevent childhood and adult chronic disease and behavioral health conditions; supporting families to prevent child abuse and neglect; promoting child development and school readiness; and boosting families’ economic self-sufficiency. HRSA administers this Program in partnership with ACF. With increases in appropriations under the MIECHV Program for FY 2026 and FY 2027, HRSA strongly encourages awardees to expand home visiting services to new communities and/or additional families in currently served communities through this funding opportunity.
